SW Moody Avenue

Portland, Oregon

The SW Moody Avenue project reconstructed approximately 3,200 linear feet of roadway between SW River Parkway and SW Gibbs Street near the Portland Aerial Tram. The project elevated SW Moody Avenue to 14 feet above the original grade and provides a multimodal connection with three vehicle lanes, streetcar (integrated with light rail at SW Porter), sidewalks, a cycle track connecting to bicycle lanes, and a multi-use path.

Harper Houf Peterson Righellis Inc. led the project team from conceptual design through construction, providing project management, civil engineering, utility coordination, landscape design, public involvement coordination, construction management assistance, inspection services and construction survey staking. Specific civil engineering tasks included horizontal and vertical roadway alignment, grading, storm drainage design, shared franchise utility duct layout, and temporary road design.

The multidisciplinary design team included 11 subconsultants who provided structural, geotechnical, traffic, rail, overhead catenary system and pavement design and review services.
