NE 137th/138th Avenue Improvements
The NE 137th/138th Avenue project area is a nearly one-mile-long corridor located in an urban area of northeast Vancouver, Washington. Corridor improvements were undertaken to enhance roadway safety, increase capacity, provide safe access to fronting properties, minimize delay to through traffic, and provide pedestrian and bicycle facilities. The federal nexus for this project was funding from FHWA; state and local funding were also used.
The roadway improvements upgrade NE 137th/NE 138th Avenue to current Minor Arterial standards with the work including alignment options and analysis, right-of-way needs identification and impact analysis, stormwater management, utilities coordination, major street widening, and streetscape design. HHPR worked with the City and the community to design roundabouts at three critical intersections.
